Don't miss Miss Patate! |
In Ontario, we might call them "snack shacks"...cute roadside huts that serve fries, steamed hot dogs, burgers and even ice cream. In Quebec they are called "casse croute" and they are equally delicious. They are sprinkled all over the Tremblant area and a neighbour of ours mentioned one that he goes to whenever he can: Miss Patate. The name seemed familiar and indeed, we have passed Miss Patate many times along the 117 on our way to and from Montreal.

The covered interior |
Miss Patate is a bit further away, about a 15 minute drive from St Jovite, near the town of St-Faustin. It's easy to miss, but you'll find it roadside on the 117 as you approach Tremblant from Montreal. A couple things make this casse croute a bit different: first, it has an enclosed eating area. Still bright and sunny, but you are covered on rainy days and free from bugs. Second is that they offer veggie hot dogs and burgers, which my wife and I had respectively. The veggie burger was better than the hot dog in our estimation, but great to have these options nonetheless. This spot is close to our regular golfing spot,
Les Ruisseaux, so I suspect we will be frequently using Miss Patate as our 19th hole.
Note - cash only!
