**July 2019 update**
La Voisine has now been sold and has been reborn as Les Gloutons de Tremblant. We haven't been in yet but online reviews are favourable so far. For now I've preserved the original article on La Voisine and we'll update once we have visited the new place.
********************************
In English, Casse-croute translates loosely as "snack". On a recent trip to France, I didn't see this term anywhere, but it's all over Quebec. On highways and rural roads throughout the Tremblant area, you'll find casse-croutes serving up steamed hotdogs, hamburgers, fries and other greasy delights. Being roadside outfits, they tend to stay open only during the warmer high-tourist months. But right in the heart of Tremblant, there is a legit casse-croute that is open year-round. When we have a craving, La Voisine is our stop. It's located on Rue St. Jovite at the west end of town, not far from the Metro grocery store.
La Voisine has recently been renovated, so the interior is quite clean and comfortable, and the patio is great for people watching. The food is core casse-croute...on our last visit, Karen enjoyed a magnificent diner-classic cheeseburger and I had the "all-dressed" hotdogs. I have learned by now that "all-dressed" is indeed French for "all-dressed", so my doggies come loaded with shredded cabbage, onions and mustard. Unlike her roadside cousins, La Voisine is licensed so you can get a brew to go with your chow as well. Bon appetit!
