La Diable Microbrewery

The devil, or la diable, plays a prominent role in Tremblant: it's a river, a ski run, a golf course, a camp ground.  And best of all, it's a microbrewery.

Microbrasserie La Diable is situated in an historic little house in the slopeside pedestrian village at Tremblant.  The interior is quite inviting.  Our favourite is the bar area, to the left as you enter, with seats circling the bar and lively conversation in the air...it's always bustling.  To the right, you enter the main restaurant area featuring a cathedral ceiling lined with beer mats from around the world.  There's a small upstairs seating area as well, which fills up mostly at lunchtime on prime ski days.

The beers are quite good, brewed on premises and sold only on premises, and there's always a biere du mois (beer of the month) for something new.  The food is hit and miss to be honest, but if you stick to traditional pub fare, you can't go wrong.  The French do like sausages on the menu, and if you order the market sausages at La Diable, you won't be disappointed.  [July 2013 update...I had the sausages and was disappointed.]  As for service, it's generally fine and as with all places in Tremblant, the staff are fluently bilingual, in case your French isn't what it used to be.

Patio was open during spring skiing!
La Diable is a favourite spot for us year-round when we visit.  In part, because it's where we received the phone call from our real estate agent that our offer on a little chalet had been accepted.  And also because in summer and fall, the patio at La Diable is one of the best in the village and superb for people watching.  Overall, this pub is a must visit.

[Note: if you like craft beer, don't miss the St. Arnould brewery in St. Jovite, just 15 minutes  away by car.]
