St. Arnould on a cold, early morning |
The St. Arnould brewpub is a classic example of the great things you can miss in Mont Tremblant if you only read the official Tremblant tourism sites. If you're looking for craft beer, the official sites point you to La Diable in the slopeside pedestrian village. Not that I have any problem with La Diable...they serve great beer, made on premises, in a very cute old building. But St. Arnould is equally good and if you're a beer fan, you're missing out if you skip this spot.
Location-wise, it's in an unlikely spot, wedged in beside the IGA on Rue des Pionniers on the east side of St. Jovite. (Its proximity to the IGA means my wife and I invariably stop for a pint whenever we pick up groceries.) The building is a huge, square log cabin with ample space inside. Our preference is to sit at the bar or beside the fireplace. In the summer, they have a great patio considering it's next too a parking lot.

Food is standard pub fare, but the real reason to come here is the beer. They brew about eight standard beers, and have a few seasonal brews written on the chalk board for variety. St. Arnould's beers are available in grocery stores throughout Tremblant, but we much prefer to drink it at source!
August 8/2012 update. Thought we'd update this posting with some summer photos. The photo above, taken on a brittle winter morning at about 8am, doesn't paint the most flattering picture. We visited St. Arnould today and enjoyed their wonderful patio. See the photos below!
